Crowley & Sons Income Tax is a proud family-owned business with deep roots, originally founded by my grandfather Simon J. Crowley in the 1930’s just after the federal government implemented the requirement to file a tax return. What began as a small, service-oriented practice has grown into a trusted name in tax preparation for generations of clients.
In 1972, my father, James P. Crowley, took the reins while also serving as an active Police Officer in the NYPD. During the late 1970s and early 1980s, as the business expanded, he built a small but capable team—James, John Martin, and myself—to meet growing demand. Back then, taxes were prepared entirely by hand, long before the digital age, and teamwork was essential.
As our client base grew, we opened our Staten Island office in the early 1980s to better serve the community. My father continued leading the firm until his passing in 2000, at which point I stepped in to carry on the legacy.
Over the past two decades, our firm has grown from a one-man operation into a collaborative team of professionals. John, James, and I became the primary tax preparers, working closely with each client to ensure personalized and attentive service. Today, the next generation—my sons—have joined the business, continuing the family tradition and bringing new energy and insight to client relationships.
Our team now includes over 25 experienced professionals, including CPAs, tax preparers, accountants, and a full administrative staff. We’ve embraced modern technology and expanded our services to meet the full spectrum of individual and business tax needs.
